Instants fugitifs

Jason Arsenault - Robin Dupuis - Nelly-Ève Rajotte

Bringing together the video, sound and installation work of Jason Arsenault, Robin Dupuis and Nelly-Ève Rajotte, Instants fugitifs is a media art exhibition and poetic exploration of what could be termed the tension between the aura of absence and the spectral presence. The various works making up the exhibition use formal new media qualities to challenge our relationship with our immediate surroundings which, as they become increasingly saturated with images and sound, are shaped by the preponderance of new technologies.

Whether they are immersive or reactive to our presence, highlight or conceal their interface, probe the mythical universe of the American Western or put us face to face with a stranger, the works of Instants fugitifs first plunge us into a contemplative state. They then encourage us to reflect on the mark or imprint left by the audio and visual information that permeates our day-to-day existence and how it alters our imagination.

Jason Arsenault, Robin Dupuis and Nelly-Ève Rajotte are all members of the Montreal-based Perte de Signal centre that has put together this show.
